Choosing the shirt that best suits your body shape may not seem easy, but by following some simple instructions you can easily solve this problem without too much effort.

There are several parameters to consider when choosing the right size for a shirt, especially if you are not used to wearing this item of clothing frequently.

As for the fit , Alea offers four different types of shirts:

  • Tailor: the most suitable shirt to wear under a jacket. Its cut and its sartorial construction, thanks to the presence of darts on the back, make this shirt suitable for almost any type of body shape;
  • Slim: the perfect shirt for a slim body, which adapts completely to the body because it is close-fitting on the torso and tight on the hips, thanks to the darts on the back. Furthermore, being shorter than the others, it is certainly the most suitable for young guys who usually wear it outside their trousers;
  • Dress: a shirt with an updated fit, with a smooth back without pleats to be comfortable but also in line with the latest fashion trends;
  • Classic: the classic Alea shirt of all time, for those who want to be comfortable thanks to its large shape and no pleats.

To identify the Italian sizes of shirts, you need to take into account the circumference of the neck , measured from the centre of the first button to the centre of its buttonhole: usually, these are between 38 cm and 49 cm .

To have a correspondence between the Italian sizes in centimeters and the American ones indicated by the letter acronyms, typical of streetwear clothing such as t-shirts, just consider this comparison as an indication:

  • size 38 corresponds to S;
  • from size 39 to size 40 inclusive, corresponds to M;
  • from size 41 to size 42 inclusive, corresponds to L;
  • from size 43 to size 44 inclusive, corresponds to XL;
  • From size 45 and up, XXL corresponds.

Another detail not to be underestimated when choosing an Alea shirt is the type of collar .

Alea offers several of them, and these change depending on the type of fabric the shirt is made of and the treatment it is subjected to, modifying the interpretation of the collar and consequently its occasion of use.

In fact, the collar, together with the cuffs, buttons and stitching allow you to inevitably overturn and define the very style of a shirt.

But let's go and see exactly which collars are present in the Alea collections: 

  • Half-French collar , semi-open, classic and suitable for wearing a tie, highlighting the knot;
  • Italian collar , that is with the tips of the collarbones closed and brought together towards the inside, which can be interpreted both in a ceremonial version, by wearing a tie, and in line with the latest fashion trends;
  • Italian collar with covered buttoning , perfect for wearing a bow tie;
  • Diplomatic collar , with raised tips, suitable for more formal or ceremonial occasions, also excellent for a bow tie and to wear under a tuxedo jacket;
  • Button-down collar , which features buttons on the collar tabs, suitable for both a sporty shirt and more formal occasions;
  • Danny collar , a semi-open but updated version, given the small size of the collar and therefore more suitable for informal and fashionable occasions, when it is not necessary to wear a tie;
  • Mandarin collar , that is, without sails, suitable for more informal and sporty occasions. It is a typical collar for summer shirts but, based on the interpretations of the fabric, it is also possible to use it as a proposal for a shirt to wear under a jacket, in line with the latest trends;
  • Double-use collar , features a placket, typical of short-sleeved shirts;
  • Texan shirt collar , that is, with the tips of the sails longer than usual and with double stitching.
